KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Across the country, more than 100 veterans and their families received a much-needed gift this Veterans Day: A refurbished car.

Two of those veterans come from the Kansas City area.

The car-giveaway is part of Progressive Insurance company’s annual Keys to Progress® program.

The two veterans received a refurbished 2008 Kia Sorento and a 2009 Honda CRV. One of those veterans is a mother of five.

“It makes big difference, you know. Like I said, you know, we’re having five kids, so financially we really couldn’t afford a new one,” said Lela McGuire, who was chosen to receive one of the refurbished cars.
