CENTER GROVE, Ind. — Seconds are all it takes to change a leisurely drive into chaotic crash, and all too often, distractions like text messaging are what pull eyes from the road.
Our affiliate WXIN-FOX 59 in Indianapolis did a special report where they installed hidden cameras in a teenager’s car to see just how much of a distraction texting can be.
Perhaps most painful to watch inside the WXIN story is a man full of regret for what he did when texting while driving. He said he got bored while driving and started texting his wife. All of the sudden, he had crashed into something.
“A second or two goes by. I kind of came to a stop and a body came off the top of the van and I just knew that I had hit something,” he said.
Watch the WXIN report to see what he hit and to see how often teenager Nick Stricker broke his dad’s rules of texting while driving and also how long it took Nick’s dad to break his own rules.
