KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Authorities were called to the area of 13th and Holmes in Kansas City, Mo. Monday afternoon on reports of an unidentified object.

A suspicious bag in the parking lot of the federal office building brought out the bomb squad. Police say around 1:30 someone spotted the bag and called them. For two-and-a half-hours the streets around the federal parking lot were closed while the bomb squad investigated.

Police aren’t saying what the suspicious bag contained, however, the scene was cleared at 4 p.m. when the bomb squad determined the threat was over.

“We have officers trained to look at packages like this in regards to use a robot and different tools and tactics to do it safely than just walking up,” KCPD Captain Tye Grant said.
