KANSAS CITY, Kan. — General Motors is making a donation to a local university; a new car.
G.M. is giving the University of Central Missouri the car for its automotive training program.
There were three new cars parked on the curb, and now there are two. A professor from UCM took a tour of the Kansas City Fairfax Plant Wednesday morning and then took the white Chevy Malibu that was parked there back to Warrensburg with him.
FOX 4 was there where that professor, Scott Wilson, got the keys to the Malibu. Wilson says this donation has been in the works for about two years, and it is much appreciated.
The car will be used to train students enrolled in the technology management program, which is the only program of its kind in the state of Missouri.
G.M. believes the donation will pay off in the long run, because it’s helping the auto industry fill a critical need; developing and retaining skilled managers. Most students, who graduate from the program, move straight into a corporate position.
