WASHINGTON — In an effort to save $2 billion a year, the US Postal Service plans to cut Saturday mail delivery beginning in August, according to the Associated Press. Packages will still be delivered six days a week.

An official announcement is expected later Wednesday.

According to the AP, package delivery has increased by 14 percent since 2010. Other mail delivery has declined with the increasing use of online communication, causing the post office to restructure their service.
