JEFFERSON CITY — Veterans may now get a designation on their Missouri Driver’s License or State ID thanks to Senate Bill 470. Thanks to Gov. Jay Nixon, it went into effect on August 28.

If interested, a Veteran needs to show a copy of the DD-214 showing discharge status of “honorable” or “general,” “Under Honorable Conditions,” or “General under Honorable Conditions” and pay license or state i.d. card fees.

There is no additional cost to add the indicator; however, the standard new, renewal or duplicate transaction and processing fees will apply.

The Veteran designation, a ribbon with the word “Veteran” inside, will be printed on the back of the card.
