SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. — Within the last week, a viral video surfaced that appeared to show a New York sheriff’s deputy slapping and threatening a man who declined to let him search his car without a warrant.

According to FOX 4’s sister station, FOX 31, multiple media outlets have identified the deputy as Sgt. Shawn Glans of the the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, who confirmed Glans had been removed from duty without pay pending an investigation.

The video shows the man refusing to let Glans search his car without a warrant, and in turn Glans is heard threatening the man that he will search the car anyway. Although it is not seen on camera, the video indicates Glans also slapped the man.
