KANSAS CITY, Mo. — People are calling the recovery of a dog a glimmer of hope from the Feb. 19 deadly Plaza explosion.
Percius or Percy, the yellow labrador who ran away after being spooked by the explosion, spent his first night back at home Saturday.
So instead of searching for the dog Sunday, volunteers held a celebration for Percy’s return on the Plaza.
John Verstraete says his dog lost 18 pounds while he was missing for almost three weeks. But he told FOX 4 News, Percy will be healthy in no time.
Verstraete credits one man for finding his dog.
“I can’t say how much it meant to me that he took the time to be a concerned citizen and called that report in. So I’d just like to tell Theodore Charles that we love him. Thank you very much,” he said.
Verstraete gave Charles $1,500 reward for reporting that he saw the lost dog.
