WARRENSBURG, Mo. — It’s another day for the President, making a stop in a Midwest city to discuss a plan for improving the economy. It’s what he’ll be doing all week in various cities.
For Warrensburg, however, Wednesday is a special day.
“It’ll be something people may not see again in their lifetime,” said Phil Thompson.
Phil Thompson has been making sure his shop is just right for the President’s arrival.
“Sweeping, we caulked the windows the other day, there’s some brickwork done there,” Thompson said.
Even the littlest ones are warming up for the President’s visit. Annika Brunsvold, 3, adopted from Russia, is feeling the patriotism.
“The President’s coming!” she exclaimed.
“We’re excited, we’re very honored that he is coming to Warrensburg and to the university,” Annika’s mom, Kirsti said.
The discontent some feel with the current President is also visible. Flyers calling for the repeal of Obama’s healthcare plan started showing up on cars downtown.
Controversy isn’t stopping Kitty Sandberg from welcoming the President with open arms.
“I’ve been in the military myself for 20 years and never have ever had the opportunity to see a President in my life so I think it’s extremely exciting,” Sandberg said.
