WARRENSBURG, Mo. — The prosecutor in Johnson County, Mo., where a 32-year-old mother lives, filed charges against the woman, accusing her of choking her 9-year-old son while she was intoxicated.
According to the probable cause statement, police were called out on June 29 to Georgia May Griffin’s apartment in Warrensburg. They’d received a report that a boy was being choked by his mother. Officers report they found Griffin highly intoxicated, aggressive and verbally combative. Witnesses said they heard Griffin yelling profanities at the boy and heard him crying and yelling, ‘Help me….’
Griffin faces charges of assault in the 1st degree, abuse or neglect of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child. Bond was set at $25,000.
