In a YouTube video uploaded Sunday, founder Eldad Hagar of Hope for Paws, an animal rescue organization, shared the heart-wrenching story of Woody, a poodle who was left abandoned after his owner passed away.
According to a report by the Huffington Post, the family of Woody’s owner sold the owner’s house and left the dog behind to fend for himself on the home’s front doorstep.
For over a year, Woody waited under a nearby shed hoping his owner would return home, while neighbors left out food and water for him.
When Woody was finally rescued by Hagar, he was depressed, severely malnourished and also refused to eat. But soon after, Hope for Paws was able to give the pup the nourishment he needed through an IV. They also shaved and cleaned him up.
Now in foster care, Woody looks better than ever, but just needs to find a new forever home.
