LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — New video released Friday from inside a school bus shows the impact and then the hysteria felt by the riders on Monday, Oct. 20 when authorities say the bus driver missed a turn into Lee’s Summit West High School, attempted to make a u-turn and in the process, was T-boned by a large truck.

The riders were 20 members of the Raymore-Peculiar High School volleyball team, on their way to Lee’s Summit West to play in a district tournament game. The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of SW Ward Road and SW Stuart Road.

One player was seriously injured with broken bones and a back injury, while others had concussions and one high school senior had to get 30 stitches to reattach her eyebrow.

The bus driver was given a city citation for attempting a U-turn when not safe. Watch the video in the player above to see the crash, as it happened inside the bus.
