LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Kansas Jayhawks are a number one seed in the South region of the NCAA Tournament, but it’s a different type of bracket that has KU students voting over and over again.
It’s the Bracket Battle for Best College Eats. The madness is organized by The Cooking Channel, and the criteria to enter was pretty simple. To qualify, the dish had to be: near the college campus, pretty much a staple for students and, of course, absolutely awesome, according to The Cooking Channel’s website.
Kansas University and it’s Crunchy Chicken Cheddar Wrap (CCCW) from Brellas were selected as one of the 32 dishes. Alecia Stultz, Assistant Director of Retail Dining says when The Cooking Channel called, the choice for the CCCW was unanimous.
“The crunchy chicken cheddar wrap is the icon of KU dinning,” said Stultz. “It has become a campus favorite, everybody loves it, everybody buys it.”
In the round of 32, Kansas faces off against the Veishea Cherry Pie from Iowa State University. This season, the Jayhawks beat the Cyclones three times on the basketball court, and now are craving a food win.
“We crushed them on the court so we want to be able to crush them in this as well,” said Stultz.
Missouri is also in the battle for best college eats, the Mizzou treat comes from Booches Burgers. The Tigers face off against the University of Illinois and the Papa Del’s Stuffed Pizza.
