KANSAS CITY, Mo.– It`s Cyber Monday! The Monday following Thanksgiving when more than 131 million Americans hit the web to take advantage of retailers’ deep discounts. Now, with an extra click of the mouse, your online shopping spree can help a local cause.

Reverend Michael Patton is a pastor at United Missionary Baptist Church. His congregation sees homelessness first-hand and they want to help. The church is sponsoring the website, www.beablessing.info, and it is linked to more than 2,500 merchants.

“Our community is a growing community, but we have issues and we have problems and we have speed bumps,” Reverend Michael Patton said.

All you have to do is go online and shop at one of your favorite stores through one of three portals and the church gets a small percentage of the money you spend. If online shopping isn’t your thing, the site offers other ways to help raise money; like completing surveys, downloading coupons or recycling old items.

“This is actually going to people who need funds because their back is up against the wall and they need some type of relief in the immediate,” Rev. Patton said

He also said the money goes to a general fund for clothes and food.

“We’ve all needed something at one time.  I think it`s just so important that we come together as a family and not be separate,” he said.
