Claycomo, Mo. — A Northland mom is fortunate to get her car back hours after it was stolen. Police say she made a mistake that’s all too common during the winter.
She left the car running to warm it up with the door unlocked. After going back inside to get her coat, the car was gone minutes later. The woman says it’s a mistake she’ll never repeat.
Claycomo Police tried to pull the man over who took the car. The suspect sped off and ditched the car near 52nd & North Bennington.
“Freeze and warm up your car while you sit in it,” Angela said. “Don’t ever leave it unattended. You may not be as lucky as me.”
Police say it’s a misdemeanor violation to leave your car running while it’s warming up. Police were nice enough not to ticket the victim in this situation. Even though the bumper was scratched up, Angela was able to drive her car home.
