KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Many took advantage of Wednesday’s gorgeous weather, and that included a dog that lost his eyes in an alleged case of animal abuse.
Roadrunner, as he’s become known, played outside the Kansas City Pet Project animal shelter. The dog arrived at the shelter last November and needed multiple emergency surgeries following alleged abuse from its owner. Surgeons removed the dog’s eyes, and he just got neutered.
“For now we’re just letting him recover… know what life is supposed to be like,” said Tori Fugate with KC Pet Project.
Roadrunner has been recovering at a foster home with other dogs. The shelter is still working out the details of a permanent home. His former owner faces charges.
