A new “Bankrate” survey ranks the best and the worst states for drivers.
It’s based on fatal crashes, insurance, gas and repair costs, car thefts and commute times.
According to the survey the best states for drivers (which are all states with lots of open road):
- Idaho
- Vermont
- Wyoming
- Wisconsin
- Minnesota
At the bottom of the list (which 4 out of 5 are states with longer commute times):
- California
- Texas
- Maryland
- New jersey
- Louisiana, because of its high auto insurance costs
