KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs’ three-week stay in St. Joe has come to an end. The squad returns to Arrowhead and continues its preparations for Friday night’s exhibition home-opener against the 49ers.
Andy Reid said he appreciates the players attitude so far. Reid said they’ve been working hard and maintained focus. The offensive guru adds they were able to put in a lot of plays too.
It’s been a quiet camp so far. Number-one draft pick Eric Fisher signed and arrived just in time for the start of drills. The players have been saying all the right things. Unlike previous years, there have been more full-contact tackling periods.
For the most part, the weather has been outstanding. Despite a loss in the preseason opener at New Orleans, the number-one offense, defense and special teams units all looked sharp. Most importantly, there haven’t been any significant injuries.
The Chiefs host the 49ers Friday at 7:00 p.m. Reid said the starters will play into the second quarter. Running back Jamaal Charles may not play. Charles strained his foot in practice Monday and didn’t participate in practice Tuesday or Wednesday.
