NEW ORLEANS, La. — The Kansas City Chiefs got off to a quick start in Andy Reid’s debut as the team’s new head coach, but were outscored 17-3 down stretch, and lost their exhibition opener to the New Orleans Saints Friday night, 17-13.
New starting quarterback Alex Smith led the first team offense on two first quarter scoring drives. The first drive of the game being capped by a Jamaal Charles one yard TD run. The Chiefs also got two field goals from Ryan Succop.
The Chiefs do not have a practice scheduled for saturday, but return to practice on Sunday at Missouri Western University in St. Joseph, Mo. They play their exhibition opener next Friday night at Arrowhead Stadium when they host the San Francisco 49ers.
