As training camp gets started in St. Joe this week, fans are excited, hoping new head coach Andy Reid can turn the Chiefs around and get them to the playoffs just one year after they finished the the worst record in the NFL. And we’re learning this morning that ticket prices this year reflect the awful season they had last year.
According to ticket re-seller vividseats.com, the Chiefs rank near the bottom in cost to attend a game.
A ticket to see the Chiefs this year at Arrowhead will cost you on average $124. That’s fifth lowest in the league. Compare that to the New England Patriots, which is highest in the league — though Patriots fans would argue that they get their money’s worth since their team consistently wins.
But those average ticket prices could go up next year if Reid gets the Chiefs to start winning.
And they have the tools to do just that, with six pro bowlers returning and a revamped roster full of talented free agents and high-upside rookies.
The rookies and new players reported to training camp at Missouri Western in St. Joseph yesterday…and they are ready to hit the field a month and a half after their last organized practice.
“You’ve got six weeks off and as far as the quarterback goes, we can work out and we can go throw on air and we can go throw to receivers, but you can’t simulate throwing to receivers, throwing 11 on 11, so it’s a few days of work to get back into things, so when the rest of the guys get here we are hitting the ground running,” Alex Smith, Chiefs quarterback, said.
The Chiefs first workout is set for Tuesday morning, while veterans report Thursday. The Chiefs first public practice will be Friday afternoon at 3:30. And the team will be in St. Joe through August 15.
