KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The bat flip is one of those fun gestures in baseball culture when a batter gets a hit; part excited celebration, part brash swagger.

But the latest craze catching on in Kansas City: Drew Butera’s hair flip.

It’s one thing to make it in the majors, but looking good doing it? Butera’s got that down.

The hair flip has been a calling card for the back-up catcher since last year, but it remained a bit of a Royals inside joke.

But after Butera notched two doubles in Sunday’s 6-1 win over Baltimore, Salvador Perez couldn’t sit idly by in the dugout. He clearly loves the celebration.

Salvy and Eric Hosmer got up and called out for Butera to do the flip, and he was happy to oblige.

“Probably just like everything else, it was Sal’s idea,” Butera laughed. “He stands on top of the dugout and yells at me ’til I do it.”

MLB commentators had a chuckle at the Royals’ antics, even Fox Sports’ Joel Goldberg complimented him on his hair.

It’s another example of the fun team chemistry the Royals have going for them.

Royals fans, particularly the ladies, are loving the hair flip. Oh, and here is he holding a puppy if you didn’t think he was already adorable enough.
