KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Eric Fisher said he slept no more than two hours Thursday night and the whole experience still hasn’t sunk in.
Just five years ago, he was a high school punter. On Thursday, he became the football property of the Kansas City Chiefs — the overall number one pick of the NFL Draft.
Fisher caught an early flight out of New York City on Friday morning and arrived in Kansas City around 10:30 a.m., where he then made his way to the Chiefs Headquarters at Arrowhead shortly before noon.
He had lunch with Chiefs’ brass, then at 1 p.m., he played meet the press — and began to live out his boyhood dream of playing professional football.
Fisher said Friday was his first time ever in Kansas City and that indeed, yes, he was still excited and ready to make a lasting impression.
Fans won’t get to see Fisher in uniform for another two weeks when the team holds their rookie mini-camp.
