KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Wednesday was the first day high school football players could sign national letters of intent with prospective colleges and universities, and in Kansas City the major story was the weather.
With most high schools cancelling classes because of the recent heavy snowstorm, most signing ceremonies were either canceled or postponed. However, the weather didn’t stop the most highly sought after prospect in the Kansas City metro area, Braden Smith of Olathe South, from holding his ceremony live on national television. With TCU, Texas A&M and Auburn as his 3 finalists, the All-State offensive lineman made SEC champion Auburn his school of choice.
Locally, three players from Missouri state champion Blue Springs signed with Kansas State, including two-time Simone Award winner Dalvin Warmack.
Missouri inked two players from Lee’s Summit West, including All-State defensive back Logan Cheadle, who’s already graduated high school and enrolled at Mizzou for the spring semester. Kansas landed four-star running back Traevohn Wrench from nearby Gardner-Edgerton High School.
