Norman, OK — It’s been a rough 8 days for the Kansas basketball program, which lost for the 3rd time in a row for the first time in 8 years with Saturday’s 72-66 loss at Oklahoma.

Depending on the outcome of Saturday’s game in Manhattan between K-State and Iowa State, the Kansas Jayhawks could possibly lose a share a first place in the league standings for the first time this season.

Oklahoma was led by Senior Forward Romero Osby who scored 17 points and had 6 rebounds, with teammate Steven Pledger adding 15 points. Kansas was led by Freshman Guard Ben McLemore who scored 15 points, and Senior Center Jeff Withey who had 14.

Oklahoma led at the half 38-34 behind the hot shooting of it’s entire lineup, hitting open shot after open shoot, and tallying 54% percent shooting from the floor against the country’s top team in percentage defense. The Sooners shot 44% for the game.

The Kansas defense was better in the second half, but not good enough. Kansas also shot a meager 55% from the free throw line, hitting just 11 of 20 from the charity stripe. Kansas (19-4, 7-3) also had 13 turnovers, and had it’s 10-game winning streak against Oklahoma (15-7, 6-4) snapped.

Kansas will next play Monday night at Allen Fieldhouse against Kansas State.
