NEW ORLEANS, La. — The Kansas Jayhawks are celebrating a two point win in their semi-final game of the Final Four against Ohio State. KU beat Ohio State 64-62 on Saturday night.
The Jayhawks trailed most of the first half. Although KU was the first to score in Saturday’s game, they wouldn’t see another lead until just under three minutes before half time. The Buckeyes were able to regain the lead and went into half time with a score of 34-25.
In the second half, Ohio State missed their first 10 shots from the field. They also suffered because Deshaun Thomas was benched after three fouls. That allowed KU to go on a 13-4 run to open up the second half.
The game was tied at 38 before KU was able to hold off the Buckeyes. In the last eight seconds of the game, Tyshawn Taylor was fouled. After making two free throws, Kansas took the lead 64-61. KU then intentionally fouled Aaron Craft with 2.9 seconds in the game. Craft made the first shot and threw up the second shot abruptly and missed.
KU in-bounded the ball and dribbled off the last few seconds of the game for a two point win.
This is the second time this season that the Jayhawks beat the Buckeyes. They also beat them early in the season 78-67 in Lawrence.
