COLUMBIA, Mo. — Slow start? No problem. Allowing the opposition to score the first seven points of the second half?
That wasn’t a problem either. The Missouri Tigers got off to another slow start on monday night, but would up with another double digit win in Big 12 basketball, defeating the Texas A&M Aggies 70-51 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Missouri (17-1, 4-1) got 18 points from reserve guard Michael Dixon and snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Aggies. Dixon led the Tigers on a 28-6 run in the first half, as Missouri led 42-23 at halftime.
The Aggies scored the first seven points of the second half, but Missouri was never really threatened. Missouri Center Ricardo Ratliffe added 17 points, and Kansas City native Marcus Denmon had 16 for Mizzou. Texas A&M (10-7, 1-4) was led by Elston Turner and Chris Middleton who had 13 points apiece. Aggie Head Coach Billy Kennedy used to serve as an assistant to Missouri Head Coach Frank Haith when Haith was head coach at the University of Miami.
Missouri next plays on Saturday at Baylor in Waco.
