LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — David Beaty is the new head football coach at Kansas after three seasons as Texas A&M’s receivers coach. He previously was on the Jayhawks staff as receivers coach under Mark Mangino and Turner Gill from 2008-09, and served as the team’s co-offensive coordinator in 2011.
Beaty takes over a program that has occupied the Big 12 cellar since 2010 and won just three games this season.
Charlie Weis was fired four games into his third season. Defensive coordinator Clint Bowen, another candidate for the job, served as interim coach for the final eight games.
