SEATTLE — The Monday night game against the Seattle Mariners finally ended Tuesday morning (Kansas City time) and the victory was ours.

In the top of the 8th inning, Salvador Perez lined a single into right field and Eric Hosmer scored.

The Royals scored three runs int he 8th to take a two run lead.

But in the bottom of the 8th inning, Seattle battled their way back into the game when Franklin Gutierrez hit a solo homer off Luke Hochevar to make it a one-run game.

Then Michael Saunders hit back-to-back homers off Hocehvar and the game was tied up and went into extra innings.

At the top of the 12th inning, 1:30 a.m. Central Time, Salvadore Perez was the hero when he lined a double into left field and scored Alex Gordon.

The Royals win 6-5.
