KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Virginia Commonwealth Rams upset the Wichita State Shockers 62-59 on Thursday night in Portland, Oregon.

(12) VCU led the (5) Shockers 34-25 at halftime. The Rams (29-6, 15-3 CAA) then pushed out to a 46-33 lead with 13:41 left in the 2nd half.

Wichita State answered with a 26-11 run, and led 59-57 with 2:05 left to play. With 1:33 left, VCU’s Bradford Burgess hit a three pointer to put the Rams back up 60-59. Wichita State senior center Garrett Stutz missed a three point attempt at the buzzer.

The Shockers (27-6, 16-2 MVC) were led by senior guard Joe Ragland with 15 points. Junior forward Carl Hall added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior guard/forward Bradford Burgess led the Rams with 16 points.
